On November 4-6, we organized the IV annual robotics and innovations exhibition Robotics Expo 2016. Our records indicate that over 5000 people attended the event.
It proves that the subject of robots and advanced technologies is close and interesting to many.
The first day of the event featured the industry conference, where issues related to the use of robotics for business purposes were reviewed. Over 40 industry experts spoke at the conference, including the specialists from such leading companies as YASKAWA, KUKA, FANUC, ABB-Robotics, etc. During the event, a speech was also given by the founder of Interactive Robots and Media Lab – Nikolaos Mavridis. He showcased popular and new inventions – the Ibn Sina Robot, FaceBots and Ripley. The conference was sponsored by YASKAWA.
Further, investment panel “Prospects for further development of the ecosystem and the launch of products to robotics market in the RF” was held as part of the event. The discussion was moderated by Sergey Fradkov – the representative of the venture fund and accelerator iDealMachine. Specialists from the IIDF, StartON accelerator, companies Starta Capital and RoboCV, as well as investment funds Genezis Technology Capital and I2BF Global Ventures, discussed the monetization of robotics projects.
The large-scale exhibition of high-tech industry achievements took place as part of the event on November 5-6. Some exhibits were presented for the first time, including COLOMBINA robot. Smart and functional robots Promobot, MultiBOT, DOMGY, DARWIN, FURO-D, R-BOT, KIKI, SELFIEBOT also participated in the exhibition. Smart vacuum cleaners iClebo and grass mowers iMow were presented. Industrial robots were represented by KUKA and UNIVERSAL ROBOTS. In total, over 50 robots with various capabilities and functions took part in the exhibition.
Interesting developments were showcased at the booths of Tomsk-based universities. TUSUR University demonstrated the unique 3D-printed mechatronic hand and a model of autonomous car with computer vision. NR TSU presented a smart X-ray 3D-microtomograph and a remotely controlled system that can evaluate how favourable the environment is for human life and activities. Besides that, Tomsk-based company Biosense unveiled a useful constructor intended for learning the fundamental principles of robotics and electronics.
Participants did not forget to train young robot technicians. EduCraft company, “Electronic” school and Alma Mater Robotics brought special constructors for pupils that want to master fundamentals of programming and designing robots.
Among exhibits that created a furor, we cannot but mention a huge copter called Grifon, intended for aerial photography. This UAV can shoot qualitative images from the height of 8000 m, at the speed of 80 km/h. But what’s more important, these images can be used for further development of an amazingly detailed 3D ground map.
Apart from communicating to robots, everyone could fully immerse in the virtual world. All you needed to do for this purpose was to test a virtual reality headset from HOMIDO.
Huge fully functioning transformer robots were an impressive zest of the exhibition. And, of course, everyone memorized the exciting robots battle, which took place thanks to the support of Toborobot center. The winners received valuable prizes from GameShow channel, which sponsored this event.
This year, promising projects were presented at the grandiose Startup Battle, moderated by Denis G. Kozminykh and Vyacheslav Semenchuk from BAZAAR company. The first place was conquered by Motorica company, which developed upper extremity prostheses for children. Unlike the jury, viewers chose the Odyssey startup, which presented an underwater robot project.
Workshops for children
The exhibition featured a series of interesting and useful workshops for children:
- classes based on Lego constructors, held by Polycent employees;
- workshops “Android robots”, organized by the Center for Youth Innovation Creativity “Robots and Gadgets” together with Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics of National Research University “Higher School of Economics”.
While playing, children could learn the basic principles of programming and constructing robots.
The first robotics and innovations exhibition Robotics Expo took place in 2013. The event has grown substantially and become more large-scale and intensive since that time. This year we have launched a new project on the related subject – Drone Expo Show – a large event in the sphere of unmanned technologies. The event provides a possibility to view and test the best copters, as well as to participate in the drone racing championship.
