On February 22, we successfully held Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference Bengaluru – the first event organized by Smile-Expo in India. At the conference, our team gathered a target audience focused on a commercial aspect of blockchain tech and cryptocurrencies: developers, traders, investors, representatives of blockchain startups.

Keynote speakers and topics
In 2018, India is adopting a new regulation in the realm of cryptocurrencies and blockchain. That is why at Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference Bengaluru the legislative framework was the main topic of discussions, including comparison of existing jurisdictions in different countries and emerging laws.
CEO at SICOS (LUX) S.C.S. Arnab Naskar was the first to take the floor with a presentation titled ‘ICO regulation in the European Union and Switzerland’. The speaker told in detail about ICO laws being in force within the territory mentioned. He also touched upon self-regulatory initiatives, including Zug Crypto Valley.
An advocate at the Supreme Court of India Nappinai N S followed up the topic dedicated to legislation in her presentation ‘Government's position on cryptocurrencies; its legal implications & possible outcomes’. She outlined the following: “Today, Indian authorities show neither welcome nor credibility to cryptocurrencies. In the course of several recent years, there have been talks on the cryptocurrency ban but it’s only a plan nowadays.” The expert also clarified the latest Indian bill aimed at banning unregulated deposits that can influence cryptocurrencies and ICO.
An architect and technical evangelist at IBM India Pvt Ltd. Mani Madhukar dedicated his presentation to distributed ledgers IBM is currently focused on. The company cooperates with a retailer Walmart and a transport operator Maersk. According to the expert, an IBM-designed project to track food delivery is likely to appear in India.
The conference also embraced such topics as blockchain operating principles, marketing strategies for the cryptocurrency business, promising aspects of blockchain product development as well as the role of digital assets in the global financial sphere. The total number of speakers at the conference – 17.
Exhibition area, pitch session, discussion
At the conference hall, attendees had a chance to hear a panel discussion titled ‘How ICO could lead blockchain innovations and challenges associated with it’. Sr. Software Engineer at Microsoft India Reenu Saluja was one of three experts to voice their opinion.
An exhibition area with eight promising blockchain companies was part of Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference Bengaluru. Some of them are planning to launch ICO in the nearest time. All the exhibitors also participated in a pitch session and shared the information on their projects with potential investors.

In 2018, Smile-Expo is holding the Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference series not only in the CIS and Europe but also Western, Eastern and Southeastern Asia.
March, specialized events will take place in Turkey (Istanbul, March 1) and Thailand (Bangkok, March 6) followed by Tallinn, Tel Aviv, Kyiv. We plan to hold more than 20 conferences dedicated to cryptocurrencies, blockchain tech and ICO in different countries.
