On November 30, the capital of the Netherlands will host ICO event Amsterdam, a conference dedicated to cryptocurrency crowdsales. In autumn of 2017, Smile-Expo is organizing a series of such conferences: apart from Amsterdam, they will take place in Moscow and London.
Blockchain is called a revolutionary technology nowadays and its development is equaled with the invention of the Internet in terms of importance. Even today, blockchain has substantially influenced the finance field and led to the emergence of ICO – a new fundraising model that successfully competes with the traditional models.
Amsterdam has become one of the European ICO hubs, as this city is the center of blockchain innovations and the country is one of the most loyal in the world towards Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The state and private organizations contribute to the development of the ICO field.
Here are the most significant industry-specific events that have taken place in the Netherlands and namely Amsterdam over the last few years.
- Startupbootcamp has been operating in Amsterdam since 2012. That is an international network, incubator for supporting high tech projects. Startups chosen by Startupbootcamp receive an opportunity to work with the best mentors, specialists, and investors all over the world.
- Several Bitcoin payment systems were launched in the Netherlands in 2016-2017; a large restaurant network and a chain store started to accept cryptocurrency in 2017. In summer of 2014, Bitcoin Boulevard (a pedestrian street, where shops and other facilities accept Bitcoins) was opened in The Hague, and an analogous project is currently being reviewed for Amsterdam.
- In 2012, the Netherlands became a homeland to the large European cryptocurrency exchange (Bitonic).
In April of 2017, a blockchain consortium was established, initiated by the Commission for Information Technology of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands. It united over 20 state and private companies.
The Netherlands is in the forefront of the financial technologies and particularly the implementation of blockchain initiatives amongst European countries. In 2017, the country’s leading banks have announced or realized blockchain-based projects. For instance, ABN AMRO and Rabobank have joined the trials of SWIFT’s blockchain for making international payments. ING bank has successfully finished testing the distributed trading platform.
Despite all these important steps, the Netherlands has not defined the legal status of ICOs yet.
Smile-Expo is keeping a close eye on the development of the fintech field all over the world. Our company has accumulated huge experience in the organization of Bitcoin & Blockchain Conferences (a network of events held in Russia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Estonia, and other European countries) and uses it to monitor trends.
Therefore, our company has chosen the capital of the Netherlands as the venue to host the new event – ICO event Amsterdam. The conference will focus on cryptocurrency crowdsales in all aspects – from the organization and conduction to the support of a project after the investment round ends. Legislative regulation of ICOs will be one of the main topics.
Our company will establish a platform in Amsterdam for everyone interested in the technology to be able to meet there. They can be industry experts, keynote investors, representatives of promising startups and companies that have already run successful crowdsales.
