Sell-out: How did Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference St. Petersburg in the Northern capital go?

On June 22, we’ve held Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference in St. Petersburg. Tickets were sold in a week before the event; conference halls were full, and the total number of participants was over 500.

The conference hall was full and included presentations of 18 speakers from Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia, Malaysia and Malta. They highlighted the main development trends and nuances of state regulation of blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Marina Guryeva, the Head of the Department of innovative activity at NRU HSE, believes that the future is in blockchain. In her opinion, soon we will live in a world where the development of artificial intelligence will reach such a level that robots could buy or sell goods and services. Her optimism was shared by another speaker, Danil Kabanov, the head of Sberbank-Technology. He said that over the past three years, business community has begun to pay much more attention to blockchain.

There were also some specific cases. Maxim Azrilian, the Сhief technical architect at Alfa-bank told about the cooperation with the S7 holding company. Together, they’ve created a blockchain-based platform for international letters of credit, which reduced the transaction time from ten days to four hours.

The report on cryptocurrencies was presented by Konstantin Goldstein, the technical evangelist at Microsoft. According to him, big part of ICO is poorly thought out. This criticism was supported by Artem Tolkachev, the Director at Deloitte CIS. He believes that many startups do not bear any responsibility for ICO and only collect money, so it is necessary to legally protect investors that invest in newly issued cryptocurrencies.

Demo zone

Exhibition area was also very popular. 21 exhibitors presented their developments in the fintech sector. 51ASIC and MYRIG companies demonstrated equipment designed specifically for mining certain types of digital currency.

Cryptocurrency ATMs were presented by such companies as RuDEX, Bitlish and Sensis. And Polybius crypto bank, which collected $32 million during the ICO had even two stands.

We are glad to hold such an important event in the financial technology industry, and we are not going to stop! In autumn, the event will confirm its international status: on September 7 we will go to Sweden with Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference Stockholm, and on October 12 we will visit Ukraine with Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference Kiev.
