ESports in Ukraine has quite a long though not very rich in global scale events history. Like in other post-Soviet countries it arose in computer clubs in the 1990s.
Perhaps, the triumph of Natus Vincere more than 5 years ago can still be referred to as the greatest achievement of the Ukrainian eSports. At that time their Counter-Strike team managed to win all large world championships in 2009, and Dota 2 team won the first “The International” tournament in 2011.
“Born to win” hold the 6th position in the world ranking of eSports teams in terms of cash prizes received at tournaments – over $6 241 250. Nevertheless, their management claims that 2017 will be the first year to bring real profits for the club.
What concerns such an important eSports market segment as tournaments and events, the majority of them was of semiprofessional and entertaining nature. It’s not until April 2017 that a world-class tournament The Kiev Major 2017 will be held on the territory of Ukraine. In terms of the significance for the state and market it can be compared with the largest competitions in traditional sports organized here – Euro 2012.
Also there were no eSports b2b conferences on the territory of the country earlier. Therefore, Smile-Expo event company decided to hold eSPORTconf Ukraine in Kyiv on February 22. It will set the stage for building a full-fledged and dynamic eSports business platform in Ukraine.
We already have experience in the organization of successful events in this sphere: we held the first in the RF industry b2b conference eSPORTconf Russia in December 2016. And we are preparing a similar event for the European market – eSPORTconf Poland – scheduled for March this year.
The conference eSPORTconf Ukraine will not only enable learning the actual state of the market and its development forecasts but will also help to find investors, sponsors, business partners, etc. Tickets are already available on the official website of the event.
