Currently, there is no elaborated legislative regulation of telemedicine in Russia. That is the reason why clinics cannot serve patients remotely. At the same time, the number of online services has increased, providing simple medical services, for example, house calls.
Furthermore, there is a growing demand for specific kinds of mHealth gadgets.
Medical services in Russia: where to find them
According to J’son & Partners Consulting, 16 mHealth services were available in the country in 2013. Today, this number has doubled. What is more important, not only Moscow and/or Saint Petersburg citizens can use such services but also people from other towns, for example, Novosibirsk.
Here are several popular mHealth portals in Russia
GetDoctor – a service for remote doctor consultations. To talk to a doctor, one needs to register on the website. Afterwards you can choose the way of communication – by chat or a call back – and pay for the service. Consultation time is not restricted. And you won’t have to wait for a response for long – in the daytime the patient is usually contacted within an hour.
Doc+ – an Internet portal that allows arranging house calls. It can be used by citizens of Moscow, Saint Petersburg and several areas in the vicinities of Moscow. Not all specialist doctors are making house calls, only the main ones, including physician, pediatrician, otolaryngologist, neurologist, etc. The website has the same operational principle as GetDoctor. At first, you should register, leave a query and shortly state your problem, and pay for the house call.
Diagnostic chart – a part of health.mail.ru. The service allows users to receive more information about symptoms that disturb them, and recommendations as to which doctor should be consulted in a specific situation.
Popular medical gadgets in Russia
Sales of fitness trackers have grown recently. According to the data, published on the official website of Svyaznoy store chain this February, the greatest demand is seen for Xiaomi devices – more than half of buyers choose them. Jawbone and Rovermate products are slightly dragging behind.
In total, around 134 thousand smart bracelets were sold in Svyaznoy during 2016. That’s twice as many as in 2015. Sales of smart watches have also increased by 11%. Here, Apple, Samsung, and SONY are the leading companies in terms of popularity.
