The first for the Philippines conference on bitcoin, blockade and ICO took place in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, on January 25, 2018. The event was held in Edsa Shangri-La hotel and was the opening of the Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference series.
There were 12 booths in the exhibition area at the Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference Philippines, 5 companies became sponsors of the event. 300 people attended the event: industry experts, software developers, entrepreneurs, investors, lawyers, founders of start-ups, blockchain solutions developers and professional traders.
The sponsors of the event were:
- General sponsor: Deex.exchange, a platform to quickly trade, buy or sell cryptocurrencies;
- Platinum Sponsor: ChaoEx, an exchange with a focus on Southeast Asian Markets, it offers low-cost trading in a wide range of digital currencies;
- Gold Sponsor: Ubiatar, a platform for sharing services between users and avatars;
- Silver Sponsor: HotNow, a discovery platform for shops and promotions with integrated, in-app promotional offers.
Topics and Speakers
Zach Pister, a co-founder and Chief Development Officer at Intrepid Ventures, was the headliner of the event, as well as Herns Hermida, Business Group Lead at Microsoft Philippines.
Zach Pister covered the topic of ICO regulation and identified key points for developers who want to use blockchain technology in their business.
Herns Hermida talked about the potential of blockchain in business and how Microsoft Azure uses blockchain-based solutions.
Panel Discussion
Although all the participants agreed that it is necessary to establish rules to control “self-regulating” and decentralized blockchain space, not all came to a single conclusion regarding the level of state intervention.
Exhibition, presentations
The exhibition area became a space for communication between developers, investors and potential partners. Ubiatar and Datum.org projects were the most interesting for visitors.
