On November 10, 2016 Moscow center Digital October hosted the annual Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference Russia. This year, we have invited to the conference not only blockchain developers and entrepreneurs, but also representatives of the State Duma and leading educational centers, studying cryptocurrencies and Blockchain.
Taking into account experience of the conference in Kyiv, we have divided all the participants into two streams: for the representatives of banking sector and entrepreneurs of non-banking sector.
For the first time Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference involved representative of the State Duma – the head of a working group on cryptocurrencies Elina Sidorenko. Her team deals with risk assessment, regarding the use of cryptocurrencies, as well as with the development of user-friendly tool for cryptocurrency identification. In her report, Elina Sidorenko revealed four approaches to Bitcoin regulation, considering it as a substitute, cash, financial tool or good.
Among the developers that took part in the conference were IBM, Microsoft, Sberbank and a number of companies implementing blockchain-based solutions. The representative of Sberbank, the leading Russian blockchain developer, told about company’s plans to use blockchain-based services for internal operations and interaction with clients.
Technical Architect of IBM Vladimir Alekseev told the story of blockchain developments of the company, and addressed the issues regarding the global project HyperLedger. He also listed the most interesting pilot projects of IBM for banks and non-financial sector.
Technical aspects of blockchain-based project were also revealed in the report of the Microsoft representative Konstantin Goldstein. He told about the features of Blockchain 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0, and Microsoft Blockchain as a Service.
The floor was also taken by the author of the first book about Bitcoin, written in Russian, Alex Fork, Director of Deloitte CIS Artem Tolkachev, financial analyst and ex-vice-president of JPMorgan Chase Tone Vays, leader of the AiraLab developer team Sergey Lonshakov, as well as developers of the first Russian blockchain-based social network Dmitry Starodubtsev and Valery Litvin. The latter presented the Golos platform, which gives an opportunity to send micropayments to content authors.
Developers of hardware and software for the Bitcoin industry presented their latest products. Two dozens of companies demonstrated mining equipment, Bitcoin wallets and payment systems. The attendees learned about Wirex BTC debit card, which combines the advantages of cryptocurrencies and already developed payment terminal infrastructure.
